Artist Biography
I enjoy the process of painting. I like the way it feels when I am inspired by an expression of an animal and I take that to the canvas. Or recreate the sweet childhood memory of a barn on the farm where I grew up. It just feels good to have that vision and be able to express what I see and feel.
It amazes me to start out with a stark canvas and take it through color changes until my idea is captured. What a challenge to paint a pet portrait and have the proud viewer react with an endearing expression and just know they are connecting with that image in a way that’s difficult to describe.
At festivals or in the studio I am often asked about one of my creations and without hesitation I feel a light come on inside me. I know exactly what to say because it came from a beginning thought, an inspiration, a feeling, that I want to share. Life is sweet and simple when I paint. My art actually gives me a segway into the lives of others as I share this vision with another.
I have always had an artist in me. From early childhood I drew and colored and was encouraged to continue. It never occurred to me I would actually be able to make my living doing what I love.
